Well, it’s the time of year that most of our resolutions are possibly in our rear view mirror. Did you eat too many chips during the football season? Or maybe too much chocolate on Valentine’s Day? Are you getting off track, or maybe you’re all ready feeling stuck? No worries! Tomorrow is a new day!
Remember we all have good days and bad days! But don’t wait till Monday! And remember, moderation is your friend and I am a firm believer in living an 80/20 lifestyle. Don’t beat yourself up and just get moving again. Also, don’t let anyone shame your exercise of choice. If you know me personally, you know I love to run. Marathons to be more specific. But if Zumba is your thing, then have fun and shake it off. If yoga (which I also love) helps you find your center, then do your best Pigeon and namaste!
You know what else, if you haven’t tried my breakfast of choice, a smoothie, I highly recommend starting now. In my opinion, a smoothie is the healthiest breakfast on the planet, if made correctly that is?.
It’s also been a long while since I have posted a smoothie recipe. I know…surprises me too since I have one every morning! Even when it’s freezing out!
It’s been a few months ago, to be precise, since I shared one of my amazing recipes. Shocking to me because I LOVE THEM!
So yes, even during the cold dreary days of February, I enjoy a delicious smoothie. Actually February can be colder and snowier than January here in MN, like this year. UGH! And to make matters worse, it’s leap year so we have one more day to count off till March rings in. I can’t wait to say goodbye to the last month of winter!
Plus to confuse us even more, February has a few warm days thrown in every now and than, which I love, but than we have this weekend, pouring rain, cold, and 30 mile wind gusts. Frustrating. Maybe it’s more annoying since I am just so ready for Spring. It was a long 20 miles on the tread mill Friday!
Guess what the I did the first thing when I walked through my front door? I immediately pulled out my Vita-Mix for a smoothie. I was famished!
Lately I have had a lot of fun experimenting with different smoothie recipes at our Smoothie Workshops. My friend Sarah and I have been teaming up hosting Smoothie Workshops and so far, everyone has had so much fun! They sure help keep everyone sprits up in this cold February and it’s been a great way to help others get back on track with their eating habits. Smoothies are an excellent way to start your day because they’re loaded with protein for energy and they’re a delicious way to get an extra dose of leafy greens in the morning.
Some of the recipes we’ve been using are Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, Purple Power, Strawberry Frost, Thin Mint, and one that really screams the tropics, Perfect Pina Colada! YUM! If you can’t go to the tropics, why not bring the summer to you. I have so many smoothie recipes to share! I can still hardly believe I haven’t posted one here in months. Shame on me!
My all time favorite is Blueberry Cheesecake. What is really nice about this recipe, you can change out the berries every day of the week and have a yummy taste of a cheesecake every morning in a different flavor. Yesterday I had Strawberry Cheesecake, the day before Raspberry Cheesecake, and today it was Blueberry Cheesecake. How cool and yummy is that! I love playing with recipes…..you too?
