Thankfully I enjoy my smoothies. They’ve been my standard breakfast every morning for the past 25 years, but this past week, I have also made them for lunch. And today, it made a fabulous Tuesday afternoon snack. I just used one scoop of shake mix verses two.
My kitchen has been in the middle of a remodel so unfortunately I haven’t been able to whip up my standard lunch with some mix of veggies, eggs, and probably an avocado. So it’s a good thing my smoothies are convenient and just plain delicious. Most importantly however, they happen to be incredibly healthy. The healthiest breakfast on the planet in my opinion. And lately lunch.

I have great news. I just received Shaklee’s newest Life Energizing Shake Mix, Plain & Simple. It’s like a blank slate…unflavored, unsweetened, so it’s perfect to customize with your own favorite flavors. I happen to love chocolate and when you combine it with peanut butter, what’s not to love? Remember that Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake I made for my family over New Years? It’s just as delicious with the Plain & Simple Shake Mix.
This is also perfect for after a workout on a cold winter day. When I get home from my run and the gym, I am starved, so whipping up a smoothie is super convenient for me. As a runner, I try my best to get in the right amount of protein at every meal.
Why Do You Need Protein? We discuss the importance of protein in our smoothie workshops, but here are some of the most important reasons:
- building muscle, bone and cartilage
- healthier skin
- balances hormones
- curbs your sugar and carb cravings! WOOT WOOT!
- assists in burning fat
- repairs muscles after working out…YES
Protein Shakes are perfect in the morning, or maybe lunch, and today, it was my Tuesday afternoon snack! Heck, they’re perfect anytime you need something quick, convenient, and delicious. I am always looking for ways to switch them up and this recipe is a winner. You can find the recipe here and all I did was replace the Chocolate Energizing Shake mix with the new PLAIN & SIMPLE. It’s as simple as that. Adding raw cocoa powder is optional, but highly recommended!
