“This super creamy chocolate cherry smoothie is packed with protein, healthy fats, vitamins and is now at the top of my list for a healthy and delicious breakfast.”
Simply by accident, I have a new favorite smoothie ingredient. Or at least I no longer need to panic when I run out of frozen or fresh bananas. Seriously, I always have them on hand since I use them every morning in my smoothies after my run and workout at the gym. But last week, due to the craziness of the remodel, I not only ran out of bananas, but fresh greens too. I am pretty sure this is a first.
But guess what! I now have another favorite smoothie ingredient. Don’t get me wrong, I could never by choice abandon frozen bananas and oats. They both seem to complete my smoothies, but I was shocked how my new “gem” made this smoothie as creamy and awesome as all my other smoothies I have made with either bananas or oats. All I got to say is YUM! Can you spot my new “gem”?
Ok…I’ll give you a hint. It’s green.
As you know, I love avocados, but for whatever reason, it’s never been my first choice for a smoothie, until I ran out of my two other favorites, bananas and oats. Please give this a try, at least once, like I did. It seriously might blow your mind like it did mine! This Chocolate Cherry Avocado Smoothie is just that, SMOOTH! CREAMY! HEALTHY! DELICIOUS!
It’s like your drinking a light creamy chocolate mousse! And the best part is, you can’t taste the avocado. Also, for those of you who do not like bananas or are allergic to them, I have you covered. And bananas don’t, in my opinion, give you quite the same “mousse” consistency. In fact, you can eat this smoothie with a spoon.
You may be thinking avocados, seriously? Yes, seriously! Avocados add an abundance of healthy fats to your diet which is why I eat one almost daily. How convenient to throw this powerhouse ingredient into a smoothie!
They are also loaded with vitamin E which again is essential for all of us, especially runners. Pair that with the antioxidants in cherries which I just received from Azure Standards, and some extra protein from not only the Greek yogurt but also from Shaklee’s Energizing Shake mix, and you’ll be set for hours.
Plus the Kefir, also from Azure Standards, adds a dose of probiotics. This kept me satisfied all the way past lunch.
Enjoy and Happy Eating if you prefer a spoon.
