It’s been a long time since I wrote a post about yoga that is for sure. I have to admit, my first love is running, but yoga is right up there for relieving stress.
I’ve been practicing yoga for almost 25 years now and teaching for nearly 20 of those. Not quite as long as my running journey, but just as important! I honestly believe yoga helps me continue my running addiction with less injuries.
For this years CSA open house, I was asked to lead a short 20 minute yoga session and trust me, yoga outside is heavenly!
We also picked some strawberries and shopped at the CherryTree Mushroom table. I love everything about mushrooms!
“But guess what else we found?”
I’m such a sucker for tart anything, but tart cherries…TO DIE FOR! This smoothie is really another excuse to enjoy some of these tart cherries! It’s also a simple smoothie solution for a healthy and satisfying post workout treat after my run and the gym! Quick! Easy! Healthy! Delicious!
Tart cherries (or really, the juice) made their way into health food isle stardom because of two main reason:
- They’re DELICIOUS.
- They’re densely packed with antioxidants and are generally regarded as anti-inflammatory (what runner doesn’t love this!).
For this smoothie, I used fresh tart cherries (regular frozen cherries work too) and our freshly picked strawberries. YUM! The cherries are meaty enough so you don’t need a banana for thickness, which is a big plus for anyone who doesn’t enjoy bananas.
The cherries are blended with some protein powder (of your choice, my favorite grass-fed whey option is this one), a few ice cubes and coconut milk for creaminess, chia seeds for added fiber and healthy fats plus a little almond butter…because why not! And lastly, don’t forget a handful or two of fresh greens, or my new favorite powdered greens.

TART CHERRY & STRAWBERRY PROTEIN SMOOTHIE
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen tart cherries
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
- 1/2 cup of coconut milk (full fat)
- 2 teaspoons chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon almond butter
- fresh greens or these
- 2 scoops protein powder
- OR use 2 scoops of my other favorite one, Shaklee Life Shake Chocolate, Vanilla, or Strawberry
- 1/2-3/4 cup coconut water or plain water
DIRECTIONS:
- Add all your ingredients into your high speed blender and blend until smooth.
