Pumpkin Spice Matcha Tea Latte

If you’ve been following me now for a while now either on FB, Instagram or of course here, you’ve probably noticed I drink a matcha tea pretty much every single day.  It’s my version of a mid afternoon coffee; it’s got caffeine to give me a healthy pick me up, it’ makes an amazing latte like the ones from Starbucks (only healthier), and it’s less costly too! 

But lately, I’ve been getting bored with my afternoon matcha tea. At least with coffee, you can explore different blends, different countries, different roasts, etc. I am in love with my bullet proof combos!

With matcha though, you’re basically getting matcha. There are not much differences in the different brands but I do have a fave and am now experimenting with ways to change it up. Since it’s pumpkin spice season, why not try a pumpkin spice matcha latte?  WINNING AT LIFE!

It’s just four ingredients, is ready in minutes and if you add the MCT oil like I typically do, it has the creamiest texture.  And MCT, as you know is good brain food!  Another WIN!

Although not traditional, I make my lattes in my blender.  It’s how I make my morning bullet proof too.  I find that you are able to get everything evenly combined, there are no lumps of the matcha powder or spice, and my VitaMix helps create that amazing foam.

The other trick to foam? MCT oil!  I am addicted to this stuff!  I use it daily.  WHY?

Basically they’re an oil made up of only medium-chain triglycerides (fats) which, when consumed, are sent directly to the liver where they are then used more as “fuel” for the body, rather than being stored as fat.

The warming qualities of the pumpkin spice–which includes cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves–makes this the coziest drink ever. So for you pumpkin spice lovers, be prepared to discover the most delicious afternoon delight.

Since I like to watch my caffeine intake, I only drink one cup of bullet proof coffee a day and one matcha tea every afternoon.  However, this latte…I do wish I could drink it all day long!  It’s that good.  I love the flavor, I love the creamy texture and that foam gets me every single time. It makes you feel like you’re drinking a fancy drink from a coffee shop (which I just have to say, matcha lattes are expensive!!), but you’re in the comfort of your own home.

Nothing better!

PUMPKIN SPICE MATCHA LATTE

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup almond milk or plant milk of choice heated
  • 1/2 Medjool date or sweetener of choice (maple syrup good too)
  • 1 stick Shaklee Green Matcha Energizing Tea
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 teaspoons MCT oil optional

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Pour into a mug and enjoy immediately.
