As hard as it was to say good bye to Inverness, we all agreed we’d be back and most likely running Lochness all over again (hopefully with better weather?).
Their finishing shirt and medals are super COOL too! But that’s not all…all 10,000 plus runners received their very own Lochness water bottles. Only in the UK do volunteers fill over 10,000 water bottles for all finishers?.
We fell in love with this beautiful city, this marathon, and the people. It was far from my best time but it’s what my body and mind had on this challenging course on a very windy & wet morning.
Before I go any further, if you followed me on FB while I was traveling, you’ve probably seen most of these photos so if you decide to read on…THANKS! Truthfully the pics are kind of fun with a bit more details attached…just say’in. ENJOY!
Trust me, the food, people, and scenery in Scotland are spectacular! Oops, I think I all ready told you this more than once but if you ever decide to go to the UK, specifically Scotland, get yourself to Inverness. It’s extra special because it has a little of everything, especially good food?.
We had our best meal in Inverness at a place call the River House Restaurant. Truly the best Halibut I have ever tasted!
I especially enjoyed the Bakery not too far from our place.
They made the BEST quiche and their pastries were out of this world! I am a sucker for a good scone! My mom would LOVE this place! And I am sure you would too?.
Everything made with LOVE!
After brunch we headed out on the highway…more like the little roads of Scotland, to our next destination, the Isle of Skye.
On our way we couldn’t help but check out this amazing castle. I mean how can you not fall in love with Scotland. Check out the flag….gives you an idea of how windy it was.
Due to the high winds and rain, we didn’t take the long hike up to the castle for the full tour but like I said….we will be back.
Our next Air B&B was not the easiest place to find since it was located on a narrow country road outside of town but once we arrived, we were in awe of it’s cuteness!
The views outside our kitchen window breathtaking.
We had 2 nights but almost three full days in the Isle of Skye. After exploring the little town of Portree, we had dinner at a cute little restaurant with incredible views.
This was my starter salad….goat cheese is very popular here in Scotland and I am loving the various ways they served my favorite cheese!
Here is a salad we had back in Inverness at our celebratory dinner. Totally different flavors but just as tasty!
Next on our agenda was Sky Weavers and it was an amazing experience! Such a fun place and once again, not easy to get to but so worth the extra drive!
I couldn’t decide which scarf to buy so why not just get all 3! It was just what I needed to and I knew there was a reason I didn’t pack one. This was my favorite one which went around my neck immediately❤️️.
They didn’t have Rob’s size in a cap so we now have another reason to go back. Yes we could order from the website but hey that’s not near as much fun?.
I love all my scarfs and was able to sport them all over Scotland.
Our tour of the Sky Weavers was spectacular and we definitely were hungry by the time we found this cute spot for lunch.
The special of the day was a delicious roasted vegetable salad with potato leek soup.
And once again, right across the street was the oldest Bakery in Skye. I made it just in time to snatch up a delicious buttery scone before they closed. So far we’ve had a scone in every town we have stayed in.
I told you I am a sucker for a homemade scone and fun bakeries!
After lunch we went on to tour a cool castle and a late dinner at yet another renovated school house.
Our stay at Isle of Skye was way too short but once again, we were looking forward to continuing our journey and exploring Scotland….Stay tuned?.
