Traveling during the holidays can be stressful but it’s even more so when the weather does not cooperate and 1000’s of flights ~ Cancelled or Delayed 😳
Fortunately our flight was delayed only two hours. We postponed our Christmas dinner one day with the family since our arrival time was also much later than anticipated.
Instead of a big dinner late at night when we arrived, we played Uno for hours.
It’s been years since I have played this game and talk about an upgrade. This little machine spits our cards like no tomorrow…..I should know. I at one time had half the deck in my hand. It was fun first night.
The next morning after very little sleep, I went out for an early morning run and it was COLD. Just 25 degrees😳. So much for wearing my shorts and tees I packed.
I have no idea how the guys survived their afternoon on the lake fishing. The water was freezing and there was definitely no fish biting and not a single sole on the lake. But Colton was definitely in his element.
While the guys were fishing, us gals took a trip to Target. A much needed shopping trip since I packed very little cold weather clothes.
Gotta love Target! I found the cutest sweater and this Target carried one my favorite brands…..JoyLab.
It was perfect for my chilly 30 degree run the next morning.
We also grabbed everything we needed for my famous guacamole. The girls love helping grandma make guac as much as they love eating it.
It was a fun day and night. We took in the movie Christmas Vacation…of course. Anyone else?
The last morning was a tad warmer but WINDY as heck. The 25 mile per hour wind gusts made for a challenging longish run into Denton. At least there was NO snow or below zero wind chills 😁.
Rob & I met up at one of our favorite coffee shops we make a point to visit when we’re back in Denton. Not only is the coffee good, but I also tried their Smashed Avocado Toast sprinkled with sunflower seeds & topped off with a runny egg. No photo since I was starved and forgot to shoot one. Take my word for it…YUMMY and great presentation too.
After brunch we went and grabbed the kids for a park date. Colton wasn’t happy since he was hoping for another day of fishing with grandpa but it was just Way too windy.
We spent our last night relaxing and visiting.
Our last day was as good as our first but good-byes SUCK.
It was a short trip but we had fun making memories with the kiddos. One of my favorites always is making guac with these pretty girls.
Here’s the link to my famous guacamole 🥑
